    day 01

    Airport / Kandy

    Meet and assist on arrival at Airport by Aitken Spence Travels Representative

    Transfer from Airport to Kandy.

    Kandy was the last capital of the Sri Lankan kings and is a World Heritage Site. Many of the legends, traditions and folklore are still lovingly kept alive. Drive around the Kandy lake built by the last Sinhala king, Sri Wickrama Rajasinghe in 1798. Visit the Kandy town, the bazaar, an arts & crafts centre and a gem museum / lapidary.

    Visit Peradeniya Botanical Garden. This beautiful garden is located 4 miles off Kandy. It was first built as a pleasure garden by a Sinhala king and was expanded by the British.

  • Dambulla Rock Cave Temple
    day 02

    Kandy / Matale / Dambulla

    Visit the Temple of the sacred tooth relic of the Buddha. Observe the magnificent Architecture of that period and experience the tranquility of the atmosphere.

    Visit a spice garden in Matale to see different spices for which Sri Lanka is famous for. You will be introduced to different spices and shown how some of these spices are grown and processed.

    The Dambulla rock temple was built by King Walagambahu in the 1st century B.C. and it is a World Heritage Site. It is the most impressive of Sri Lanka's cave temples. The complex of five caves with over 2000 sq. metres of painted walls and ceilings, is the largest area of paintings found in the world. It contains over 150 images of the Buddha of which the largest is the colossal figure of the Buddha carved out of rock and spanning 14 metres.

    Sigiriya / Trincomalee (Nilaveli)

    Climb the 5th century Sigiriya rock fortress which is a world heritage site, built by King Kashyapa (477-495 AD). The ''Lion Rock'' is a citadel of unusual beauty rising 200 metres from the scrub jungle. The rock was the innermost stronghold of the 70 hectare fortified town. A moat, rampart, and extensive gardens including the renowned water gardens ring the base of the rock. Visit the world-renowned frescoes of the ''Heavenly Maidens'' of Sigiriya, which are in a sheltered pocket of the rock approached by a spiral stairway. These frescoes are painted in earth pigments on plaster.

    Head to the Eastern shores of Trincomalee. One of the largest natural harbors in the world. Home to beautiful beaches and a colorful town.

    Indulge yourself in a Dolphin & Whale Watching. The ever smiling, mischievous dolphins will put on a show while some of the oldest and the largest sea creatures, the humpback and the blue whales, will nonchalantly glide past you

    Arugambay / Yala

    In the evening have a safari in Yala. The park is the home for wild elephants, wild boars, wild buffaloes, leopards, bears, deer and crocodiles. Large flocks of migratory and indigenous birds are also found here.

  • Clock Tower, Galle Dutch Fort

    Yala / Galle

    Witness the stilt fishermen in Koggala…

    Visit, Galle, which was once the chief port of Ceylon and is a town rich in history. It was the center of the Dutch regime in the 17th century and the majestic Galle Fort ( spanning 90 acres ) bears testimony to this fact. The city of Galle is one of the well preserved colonial-era cities in Southeast Asia and has been declared a 'World Heritage Site'.

    Galle / Colombo

    Visit Kosgoda Turtle Hatchery.

    Have a boat trip in Madhu River. A boat trip is a wonderful way of seeing some of the hundreds of species of plants and animals – monkeys eat fruit in the trees, a water monitor lizard glides slowly through the water, and cormorants, egrets and kingfishers wait patiently on the banks, eyeing the water for prey.

    In the evening, go on a site seeing and a shopping trip around the busy cities of Colombo.
