Tree of Life invests Rs. 30 Million on Villas
Hotel Tree of Life, Yahalatenna, Kandy is now offering 4 luxurious Villas built at a cost of over Rs. 30 million. The villas have been built to fusion of colonial style and openness to nature with surroundings that are untouched by artificial landscaping. The villas are equipped with all modern facilities including a separate sitting area, pantry closet, a BBQ terrace with a panoramic view of the mountains that surround Tree of Life and a butler service. A unique feature at the villas is the “Inn Villa” Ayurvedic treatment.
Kani Lanka to invest Rs. 250M for new hotel
Kani Lanka Resort and Spa will be investing Rs. 250 M to build a new 68 room hotel in Kalutara. The Resort would also include a banquet hall to accommodate over 300 guests.
Hotel Sigiriya wins Accolades at WTM
Hotel Sigiriya won accolades at the World Travel Mart where they were highly recommended from among 1550 hotels at the World Responsible Tourism Awards. This is the second occasion that Hotel Sigiriya won world fame, the first being when they won the first place at the IRHA Green Award USA.
Kumbuk River wins World’s leading Eco-Lodge Award
The Oscars of the travel world, the World Travel Awards has put Sri Lanka on the global map by naming Kumbuk River as the world’s leading eco destinations worldwide, bringing international focus on to Sri Lanka’s rich heritage. The 14 acre resort on a resplendent nature reserve by the Kumukkan Oya is built with a 40ft., edifice in the shape of an elephant wondering in the wilds, as its centre piece. Kumuk River has previously been shortlisted at the Responsible Tourism Awards and was named by the London based Times – Online to be among the world’s best 50 green places.
Kosgoda Beach to be Luxury Boutique Hotel
Kosgoda Beach Resort is to be re positioned as a luxury boutique hotel with value additions next year. The management hopes to reinvest a further Rs. 5 million for this. The hotel built in 1984 with 54 rooms was re-built recently with Rs. 84 million. The management expects to introduce a room and a pool butler service and have more luxury amenities added to the rooms.
Taj Samudra rejuvenated and revamped
Showcasing a legacy of over 135 years the Heritage banquet block is depictive of the grandeur and style of the colonial era in old Sri Lanka. The recent renovation has retained the artistic value of this architecturally glorious building and created striking enhancements through mood lightening to accentuate the gold, copper and back details of the hall. This banqueting block collectively offers 7800 square feet of elegant meeting and event space now upgraded with contemporary requirements.
The new fitness centre is powered with the state of the art equipment from US based global leader in the commercial fitness industry "Star Trac”.
Taj Airport Garden Unveils Ambitious Expansion drive
The management of the Taj Airport Garden has begun to upgrade the property. The management intends to develop the hotel to reach the five star status and plans are afoot to add another 100 rooms to the property to target the high end market. The Airport Gardens restaurant ‘Golden Dragon’ which was fully refurbished recently and will have a new theme while the Indian chefs at the hotel will serve an array of Indian dishes in addition to the popular Indian theme nights where one could savour both North Indian and South Indian cuisine as well as the culinary delights of different Indian states.
Ramada looks for more investment opportunity in Sri Lanka
The Ramada international hotel chain is looking at investing in more opportunities in Sri Lanka. Consultant to the Group and Chairman Managing Director, Millennium Hospitality International, Nihal S. Samarasinha said they are looking for a property in Colombo. The Ramada International chain recently signed up with Ramada Katunayake the former Situmedura. The group an international hotel chain has over 1000 rooms in India, and Sri Lanka is the second country in the region Ramada has invested.
